Feb 16, 2010 – Painting A Day Project

Bierstadt Lake

Bierstadt Lake

Today’s painting was again, inspired by some more of our adventures in Rocky Mountain National Park.  My hub and I have been there twice and really enjoy that park.  A week in the park is never enough time there….especially when it takes a “flatlander” like us to get acclimated to the altitudes.  Each visit, we try to revisit some of our favorite locations like Old Fall River Road, as well as hike new trails and see new locations within the park.  This painting is of one of the “new” locations we visited in 2009, Bierstadt Lake.  I wanted to visit one of the lakes that inspired the famous artist, Albert Bierstadt.  Albert was well know for his large, very detailed paintings of the American West.  He had a special affinity for mountains….much like myself.
